Indian spices are famous for having a large variety of tasteful spices and unique herbs produced in Indian subcontinent. There are varying climates in different parts of the Indian soil, due to which, dozens of great Indian spices are produced and most of them are local to the subcontinent. Some of the spices kinds were imported long ago from similar atmosphere and since then are being farmed locally. To make the food tasteful, there are various techniques using spices like some spices are heated unless become brown with cooking oil or ghee and added to a new dish. The spices of India are classified into two fields that are gravy based spices and dry based spices.

Some lighter Indian spices are included at last. This point must be remembered that strong flavor Indian spices should not be added at last, they require to be added at first to make the dish aromatic. Curry is considered to be spice, which is actually not a spice. It is several spices mixed together.

Some of the Indian spices which are famous to make the dishes delicious are Ginger,
Garlic and Black Pepper. These spices are used for medication purpose too. Indian spices includes many other wonderful spice products like Green Cardamon, Cumin seed, Cinnamon, Asafoetida(Hing), Imli(turmeric), Ajmud(Celery), kasoori Methi, Harad(Terminalia chebula), Kala Namak(Black Salt), Kesar miri miri(Saffron pulp), Naaga keshar etc.

The Indian cuisines and foods are influenced by different kind of use of various Indian herbs, spices and other vegetables and dry fruits. There are hundreds of cooking techniques in Indian subcontinent to make the same dish but using Indian spices in different style. Indian dishes are known all over the world just because of aromatic spices grown in India.

Butter chicken which is also famous by Murgh Makhani is prepared in so many ways using same spices but in several different ways. It is more famous in western countries, North America and Europe.

Some Indian families grow special spices in their homes to get freshness and aroma such as kali mirch, dhanya, lal mirch etc. Indian spices are being used all over the world and making a place for themselves in respective cooking traditions.

In history, Indian aromatic herbs and spices were one of the major commodities due to which spice business between India and some European countries rose to great extent that a large number of explores came to India. And due to spices trade, there was a change of civilization with the interaction of different countries. In fact Britishers came to India to buy spices. The Indian spice trade existed even as early as 80 B.C. Alexandria was the dominant trader of 80BC of Indian spices. Indian ships mostly sailed to Egypt.
The trade of Indian spices gradually kept on increasing between India and Greco-roman world. The spices were the main import to the world overtaking silk and other commodities.
